What’s the difference between a PhD in clinical psychology and a PsyD?

I want to do therapy some day. Looking for help in deciding which degree to pursue.

A PhD is a doctor of philosophy with a specialization in psychology and a PsyD is a doctor of psychology. A PhD is typically considered more research based and a PsyD more clinically based with less research focus although you can still do clinical work with a PhD. And, typically if you are planning on teaching at a college as a professor, they look for a PhD.
