*Disclaimer* – I have no financial or other ties to NHSC. But I will say, I wish I had known more about NHSC when I started off in medicine. The earlier you apply, the more financial support you get. It’s a program that works to address the primary care shortage by awarding scholarships and loan repayment to primary care providers both in training and in practice.

To qualify, you have to be dedicated to working in an area with a health professional shortage (so called, “Health Professional Shortage Area” or HPSA). It requires a commitment of at least 2 years at an improved site.

If you are awarded a scholarship, NHSC pays your tuition and gives you a living stipend. If you are a medical student (MD or DO), dental student or NP, CNM or PA student with a passion for working with vulnerable populations, you should consider applying! Learn more here.

Thanks for that great answer!  While I have no financial ties with NHSC, I do use them a lot in the health centers I manage or consult for who are hiring!  PLEASE consider reviewing this program and registering to help us serve the needy!

If I can answer any questions, please don’t hesitate to call on me!  I know opportunities right now in New Orleans, Miami, Central Arkansas, Memphis, and Nashville!
